15th Feb 2014
ANSI/ASME A13.1 2007 Standard
Pipe marking is an important piece of safety in the workplace. Identifying the contents and the flow direction help in emergency situations and in plant maintenance.
Key Factors:
1. Pipe markers are recommended every 25-ft to 50-ft intervals along straight continuous pipes
2. Pipe marker arrows directions either in arrow band or printed along with the pipe marker
3. Pipe markers should be placed on both adjacent pipes when a change of direction occurs
4. Pipe markers should be placed on both sides of a wall or floor
5. Pipe markers should be placed on all directions of pipe near all flanges and valves
6. Pipe markers should be placed on pipe for maximum visual impact
Depending on the diameter of the pipe, a specific sized text and label should be used to entity the pipe contents and flow direction.
